Aftercare

The results and longevity of your new tattoo will depend greatly on your lifestyle, sun exposure &…how you take care of your skin during the healing process & beyond ! Every Skin type responds differently, healing time will vary & so do the number of sessions required to achieve your desired results. This information is a guideline , not a guarantee for your final results.

What to expect …

Immediately following the procedure, you may experience minimal discomfort in the tattooed area. It may feel similar to a sun burn : you can expect some redness , irritation & light swelling . Symptoms will subside within 24 to 48 hours.

During the first week, your tattoo will initially appear to be darker & bolder in color. More defined then the final result.

Minimal scabbing or flaking of the skin is normal throughout the first few weeks of the healing period. To avoid loss of pigmentation, DO NOT itch or remove scabs. They will naturally fall off on their own 😉

Adjustments & touch-ups can be made only after the healing period is complete.

During the healing process, please avoid the following:

  • Application of Makeup on the tattooed area for 2 weeks.
  • Direct water on the tattoo & the use of cleansers (except lip blush/areolas), soaps & heavy creams. Wash around the areas using a soft cleaning cloth or oil-free makeup wipe.
  • Vaseline, Neosporin & any other petroleum based products.
  • Activities that will cause sweating for 10 days.
  • Swimming pools, hot tubs or other bodies of water for 14 days.
  • Exposure to the sun or tanning can cause fading & discoloration of the pigment. Once completely healed, always apply sunscreen (30 -50 SPF ) on the treated area.
  • Laser light therapy, as it can darken/lighten or distort the pigment.
  • Exfoliation products, retinol acids or AHA’s on the area for 30 days after the appointment to avoid premature fading.
  • Massages, facials or intensive skin treatments.

Caring for your New Tattoo

BROWS (NANO & COMBO 6-8 WEEKS)

Your 1st Nano Brow session is to build shape & gain symmetry; the 2nd session is to perfect the brows & add density. Nano brows tend to heal faster than combo/micro-bladed brows with minimal bleeding/scabbing.

Day 1You will be taking home an After care kit; which includes a couple of water wipes & aftercare ointment. You need to gently blot your eyebrows every 2 – 3 hours after your appointment, you can use the water wipes in your aftercare kit or clean tissue.Do not apply the barrier ointment until the second day.

Day 2-14 Gently pat your brows 2 to 3 times a day with a damp cotton pad & apply a thin layer of the provided ointment. Once in the morning & once at night. Do not excessively apply the ointment, over-hydration of the skin may cause problems with pigment retention! The amount applied should not exceed the size of a grain of rice.

POST HEALING

  • Eyebrow tattoos normally last 1 to 2.5 years depending on lifestyle, skin type and aftercare. Yearly touch-ups are recommended to maintain your results.
  • Do not do laser your brow area (IPL). Some lasers may change the color of the ink.
  • Additional makeup application may still be required post tattoo to achieve your desired look.

LIP BLUSH (7-10 DAYS)

The color of your lip tattoo will appear vibrant for the first few days & will gradually fade about 40 to 60 percent depending on your natural lip color. Most clients require at least two sessions for brighter results.

Day 1-5 Your lips will experience moderate swelling, flaking & sometimes bruising. Apply a cold compress if needed to reduce swelling for up to 15 minutes at a time.

Day 4-7 Expect your lips to scab during this period. Remember not to pick! You can also help the healing process by avoiding irritants such as spicy foods.

Day 7-10 Moisturize lips, you are welcome to use your typical lip balm or with added SPF to ensure longevity.

POST HEALING

  • Lip blush tattoos typically last 1-3 years, yearly touch ups are recommended for those who like a darker lip color.
  • Use lip balm or gloss with SPF to protect the lip color

FRECKLES (7-10 DAYS)

The color of your freckles will appear vibrant for the first few days & will gradually fade about 40-60 percent. Most clients require at least two sessions for ideal results.

Day 1-3 You will experience redness & light swelling 1-2 days, make sure not to scratch or pick at your freckles. Gently cleanse with a cotton round & lukewarm water.Lightly moisturize if needed ,the amount applied should not exceed the size of a pea.

Day 4-7 You will experience light flaking & scabbing .Freckles will shrink in size & lightly scab. Do not pick scabs. You can cleanse gently with unscented soap or light cleanser & lightly moisturize (pea size amount). Over-hydration of the skin may cause problems with the pigment retention. You can continue use SPF at this time.

Day 7-10 Your freckles should be scab free, your skin may experience some dryness. You can cleanse normally & use light moisturizer. Always use SPF.

AREOLAS (4-6 WEEKS )

You may experience a natural lightening during the first two weeks .There are some cases, however, where color may fade to different tones according to how your body responds to the pigments. Most clients may require a touch up or a minimum of 2 sessions to achieve desired results.

Day 1 You will experience soreness, sensitivity to the area although some clients who have undergone a mastectomy experience loss of feeling in the area due to tissue removal & nerve damage. This can be beneficial when tattooing an area that would normally be quite sensitive. Loose clothing is suggested for your comfort, you can cleanse the area if needed with a cotton round & lukewarm water.

Day 2-14 You can cleanse the tattooed area GENTLY 2 times a day with lukewarm water & a disposable gauze or cotton round. Pat the area dry & apply a THIN layer of any barrier cream or unscented moisturizer of your choice. Keep the area clean & wear breathable clothing if possible.

Day 13 You most likely will be sent home wearing Dermshield, my advice is to wear only for the next 24 hrs. Although rare, occasional allergic reactions to the adhesive can occur. If you experience abnormal swelling or itchiness it is advised to take off immediately, wash the area with unscented soap & lukewarm water.
